Ready for the Holidays

We have decorated the shop for the holidays and will be bringing in more goodies after Thanksgiving.
Please drop by Friendship Farm Antiques in Alamo, CA  Tuesday-Friday 11-4 or by appt.  Just call Tricia at 925 743-8390 (shop #) or  925 864-8676 (my cell) to arrange a time.

These flour sack dish towels are so cute and wonderful.   Made in the mid-west USA
and a joy just to hang in the kitchen but they actually dry your hand washed dishes wonderfully,
if you can bear to use them.  Great for a hostess gift at $13.95 each.

           .

I am bringing in this wonderful old velvet box that is a real treasure.

One More Look at Ribbon Flowers

Thought I'd show you the flowers I made in the last  class with Candace Kling.  The other pictures
were from previous classes.  You can never take too many of her wonderful classes!  Soon these
will become part of a sachet or maybe on top of a gift box for someone special or maybe I'll just
enjoy looking at them with all the others until that fabulous project comes to mind or some might
become pins to wear on a jacket or a purse!

Some will be for sale at Friendship Farm Antiques.  Come by and leave your contact information if
you are interested in attending one of Candace's classes at my home in Alamo, CA in January 2012.

Candace Kling Ribbon Flowers Class

What a great day we had!  Candace Kling taught her ribbon rose class at my home today with 8 of us amazed at what she makes and teaches.  I have been fortunate enough to have taken several of  her classes and each one is a day filled with exciting techniques and results.  Here are some pictures of the flowers I have made in classes with Candace.

If you don't have her book "The Artful Ribbon" it is one you need to add to your library
if you have interest in making ribbon flowers

More Shrink Examples

Here are more examples of the "shrink" projects I did after taking Connie's class.  My
plan is to use them in a charm bracelet.

"Tinsel and Treasures" Show and Shrink Class with Connie Fong

What a fantastic Saturday.  Wish they could all be like this past one.   I attended the Tinsel
and Treasure show at the Alamo Women's Center with  Debbie Addie.
17 great artists all in one home town location,  Alamo, Ca.

I had to add to my collection from Charlene Geiger:

I

I am also excited to add another of Colleen Moody's Halloween dolls to my collection.

I did pick up a wonderful greeting card made from Iva Wilcox's original water color
(already purchased by some lucky person) ...
Check out the website for the Tinsel and Treasure Show to see all of the artists and their works.

Then to add more great fun, we spent Saturday afternoon at the "Shrink" class hosted and taught
by Connie Fong.  Connie is an incredible artist,  teacher and hostess.   So much fun!

Wondering thru my IPhoto library

I have posted this picture before because I keep thinking I'll change this little vignette
but I just love these little glass boxes so I think it will stay this way a while longer.

FINDINGS of Carmel

I made some more tags (actually a bakers dozen) to send down to FINDINGS
of Carmel.  If you haven't visited Nancy's shop it is a must see when
visiting Carmel-by-the-sea.  She is tucked away in the courtyard next to the Mediterranean
Market on San Carlos St.  Unfortunately she doesn't have a website but in August
I'll be there to take some pictures of her cute little shop to post.  She
is a seamstress at heart and sells wonderful fabric, ribbons and a unique array of buttons.
She hunts for the unusual small antiques, as well as, the hand made one of a kind
items from local (and not so local) artists.
Here's a sample:

Happy 4th to Everyone!

After a few days of having an energy zapping flu bug,
that was so bad I missed the Alameda Antique Faire which never happens,  I am back in my studio and ready to play.
I made some small tags out of  old wallpaper and decided to glue it to card stock so you can write on
the back side.  Pretty cute.

These old gummed letters and figures are cute but it is
the envelope that makes a great addition to an altered
art project.

Connie at Artful Play has used one in her wonderful portfolio:

These are pouches (actually English tea bags, the kind you fill yourself) that I stamped and filled
with the best home grown lavender.  Not from my yard but from for dear friend Judy's  garden
in Lafayette.  Cute as a gift tag.

Creating Molds

Today was a rainy, dreary looking day until we arrived at Connie's beautiful home in Piedmont
where the sun was shinning and the rain had stopped.  Connie was giving her second class on
how to make molds, and castings.  She is an amazingly talented artist and a fabulous teacher
and hostess.  If you haven't seen her blog.  check it out  artfulplay.blogspot.com.  You
will love looking at all of the things she creates.

I have had a few people ask about my tags, so here are a few examples.
I try to use vintage images along with vintage and new ribbons and ephemera.

Two of my Favorite Shops

Two more of my favorite shops are now carrying my line of hand made tags.

If you haven't been in to Vintages of Los Gatos yet, and you are a crafter or a collector of fine
vintage or antique jewelry or if you are looking for that something special for your home or for
a gift, you need to stop in and spend some time with Susan or Bob, the owners, who will help you
find what you are looking for.  Be sure to check out their blog as it is packed with great information
about what's going on in the Bay area, as well as, great pictures of what's new in the shop.  Susan
has what you need from new and vintage ribbons, ephemera,  some soldering supplies, some
rubber stamps and more.

Another great shop is Magpie,  in the  Willow Glen area of San Jose.   It is a must see.  You'll find
vintage home decor pieces of furniture, accessories, to baby items, jewelry and much more. There
are some things from Julie and Wendy Addison.  Michelle has a wonderful mix of vintage and new
and if you love  shabby-chic and glamor  you won't be disappointed.

This is an example of the Hyacinth flowers I made in the crepe paper class I took at
Castle in the Air.  I can't say enough about what an incredible paper artist and
teacher Anandamayi Arnold is.
